The Brownie Club is a joyful celebration of Brown creativity, community, and unapologetic self-expression.
What began as an aerial theatre show has grown into a vibrant cabaret and comedy experience, evolving with every performance while staying true to its original spirit of celebrating identity, storytelling, and connection. As the show has developed, it has adapted to a variety of spaces and venues—from theatres and arts venues to festivals and outdoor stages—allowing it to meet audiences wherever they are.
Blending cabaret, comedy, drag, live performance, and heartfelt storytelling, The Brownie Club creates a space where Brown voices are centred, celebrated, and free to be playful, political, and proudly visible. Every edition is shaped by the artists involved, making each performance unique while maintaining a strong sense of community and collective joy.
Most recently, The Brownie Club was presented at AfroFest 2025 in collaboration with The Cocoa Butter Club, bringing together an exciting line-up of performers to celebrate the richness and diversity of queer Black and Brown artistry. This collaboration reflected the show's ongoing commitment to building connections across communities while creating accessible, inclusive spaces for audiences to experience live performance.
As both creator and creative producer, I continue to develop The Brownie Club as a platform for underrepresented artists and stories. Whether in a theatre, a festival field, or an intimate cabaret venue, the aim remains the same: to create bold, entertaining, and affirming experiences that invite audiences to laugh, reflect, and celebrate together.
